2023 Cultural Heritage Plein Air Event

Johnson County Center for the Arts is pleased to sponsor the 2nd Annual Cultural Heritage Plein Air Event, September 1-30, 2023. Artists may paint at any of the sites in Johnson County, TN listed on our Cultural Heritage Map during the month of September.

The event is open and entry fee is $25. Two paintings from any of the Cultural Heritage sites may be entered in the fresh paint show, sale and awards ceremony which will take place at the Center for the Arts’ First Friday Show on October 4th, 2023 from 4:00-6:00 p.m.

Finished and framed paintings are due at the Center for the Arts by 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 30th. Entries/fees will be accepted through September 30th at 2:00 p.m. You may register online or visit us at 127 College St Mountain City TN to join us in capturing and sharing the beauty of our Tennessee mountain home. Paintings not sold will be on display and for sale at the Center for the Arts throughout the month of October. Recommended size is under 16x20. All mediums accepted. Family friendly venue.

Short Life of Trouble is a collaboration between Johnson County Center for the Arts and Appalachian Memory Keepers with funding by Tennessee Arts Commission and others. 
The film is making its rounds in film festivals now and copies are expected to be available for purchase around Christmas 2022.
