All donors will be recognized in our newsletter and listed on our website.
Donors at the $500 and up level will be honored with their names engraved on a permanent donor tree installation at the Center for the Arts Gallery on Main.
Dear Arts Supporter,
We have some exciting news to share, and we would like to humbly ask for your support. When our Arts Center first opened in 2017, there were only about a dozen artists represented. Who would have thought that number would grow to more than a hundred local artisans in just six short years? Thanks to your support, gallery sales have nearly tripled since we opened. During the past year, we have held over 50 classes from drawing and painting to clay sculpture and mosaic. When the Final Touch Frame shop was going out of business, we purchased the equipment and set up a frame shop to keep this service (and two jobs) in the county.
Last year, because of this sustained growth, the Center for the Arts began planning for a building expansion. The cost of expansion turned out to be much more than anticipated, so after a lot of research and consideration, we have made the decision to purchase a property on Main Street. This property will give us the space we need to expand our gallery and classrooms. A Main Street location will also give us more visibility and allow us to take advantage of traffic that comes with events like Buskin’ on Main Street, the Sunflower Festival, and parades. The property has plenty of parking and a large grass lot that will be a comfortable spot for outdoor music in the summer months.
For now, our plan is to keep the current building on College Street to house our frame shop and an Arts Education Center. This will allow us to accommodate larger classes and provide space for book signings, music, and guest speakers. The Main Street location will be perfect for a larger gallery and gift shop, another classroom, and a small pottery studio.
The Center for the Arts is a vital part of our community today because people like you saw the need and came together to donate time, talent, and financial support to bring the dream to life in 2017. You have supported this dream and helped it grow beyond anyone’s expectations.
We hope to celebrate the grand opening of the Johnson County Center for the Arts “Gallery on Main” this Labor Day weekend as part of the Long Journey Home celebration. We need your help to make this happen. A generous donor will match all donations up to $500 through June 15. We will continue our fundraising campaign with several events through the summer and into next year, but our first goal is to raise $100,000 by June 28. If you can, we would like to ask you to consider a donation toward the down payment on the new Main Street location. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and all contributions are tax-deductible. We are deeply grateful for your continued support.
Thank you for your consideration,
Evelyn and Cristy and the Center for the Arts Board, Staff and Volunteers
