Died April 11, 1945

Whiteley, though claiming Johnson County as home, was born in San Francisco, CA,  He had worked for Lindsey Olive Co in Strathmore, CA and was also an orange grower before joining the Army in approximately December 1943/January 1944.

After completing his basic training he was shipped to North Africa and stationed at a Replacement Depot when he became ill and was sent back to the States for treatment.  Whiteley was admitted to the Fitzsimmons General Hospital in Denver, CO to be treated for tuberculosis.  However all treatments proved ineffective and Whiteley died on April 11, 1945
