Warren enlisted 10/02/1917 and after extensive training was sent to France. In the closing months of the wear, the 128th participated in several major campaigns - Alsace, Aisne-Marne, Oise-Aisne and Meuse-Argonne. For their fury in combat, the nickname "Les Terribles" or "the Terrible Ones" was given to them by the French. Also, the 32nd Infantry Division became known as the "Red Arrow " Division. Warren was killed in action on 8/3/1918. He was 26 and is buried at Zionville Baptist Church Cemetery, Zionville, NC.
