Poe, James Harrison

James Harrison Poe
World War I
Pvt Army, Company B, 6th Infantry, 5th Division
Born  04/26/1891,  Laurel Bloomery to Mr. & Mrs. John  W. Poe


​Poe, a farmer, before his enlistment was attached to the 6th infantry Regiment and sent to France.  In July 1918 a strategic offensive plan was to immediately reduce the salients (fortifications) which interfered with further offensive operations.  One of these salients was Sainit-Mihiel.  During this offensive Pvt Poe was killed in action July 3, 1918.  He was 26.
