Kyman Matherly, Woodworker, Musician, and Engineer

Kyman Matherly grew up in Mountain City, Tennessee in a working family. Carpentry and other skills were developed early on from his dad who was skilled in many trades, and his mom, who works as an artist, has helped shape his creative thinking. Kyman is now earning a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Tennessee. From blacksmithing to computer coding, he has been surrounded by many forms of artwork and has developed many practical skills that go into creating beautiful, quality work.

Kyman's Appalachian roots are very important to him. The people and culture he grew up around have shaped the person he has become. Kyman's free time consists mainly of his faith and music. He holds tight to the Christian Faith, taking every opportunity to fellowhip with followers of Christ. He plays several instruments and enjoys many genres, but the most meaningful is the Appalachian music he grew up around.
