During Operation Middlesex Green on March 28, 1971, Fire Support Base Mary Ann, located some 7 kilometers northwest of Hau Duc in Quang Tin Province, came under a heavy mortar and sapper attack.  The firebase was on a bull-dozed hilltop, which looked like a camel with two humps and was strategically placed to interrupt the movement of enemy troops and material the K- Corridor and the Dak Rose Trail (branches of the Ho Chi Minh trail)  Originally intended to be a temporary base, it evolved into a more permanent location garrisoned by approximately 231 American soldiers at the time of the attack.

The base perimeter was breached by the enemy on March 28, 1971  and during the ensuing battle, thirty men were killed in the action before the enemy withdrew.  One of the casualties was Cpl Dallas Robinson who was killed as a result of shrapnel wounds from a hostile explosive device.

Cpl Robinson received the Purple Heart and is buried in the Sunset Memorial Park, Mountain City, TN.
