Plein Air in the Mountains: Paintings of Johnson County's Cultural Heritage Sites

This inspiring collection of paintings is on display now at the Gallery on Main. With devastation all around from Hurricane Helene and folks unable to travel to see the show in person, we are offering it online as well. ​AWARD WINNING MASTER ARTIST, LORI McNEE WAS OUR JUDGE FOR THE ADULT DIVISION.

Lori McNee creates diverse artwork, including poetic studio landscapes, vivid plein air studies, elegant still-life paintings and wildlife art. Lori's art is inspired by nature and reflects her deep love for the great outdoors and its magnificent creatures.
She is a Signature Member of Oil Painters of America, the American Impressionist Society and an out-of-state member of the California Art Club.

She is a certified Master Artist in Cobra Water-mixable oil paints and is an International Artist Ambassador for Royal Talens.
​Lori has a series of online art courses, a popular art instruction book and uses her art to teach and enrich the lives of other artists. Her work has been featured in many prestigious publications such as Fine Art Connoisseur, Plein Air Magazine, Artist's Magazine, Southwest Art and The Wall Street Journal, among others. She is represented by galleries including our nearby Martin House Gallery in Blowing Rock,NC.

It is such an honor and a touch of magic having Lori as our Guest Judge for the 3rd Annual Cultural Heritage Plein Air Event.

ARTIST LEWIS CHAPMAN TO JUDGE YOUTH DIVISION
Lewis Chapman is a graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh with a career in design and marketing and is well known for his pet portraits and watercolors. Lewis works in many mediums and is able to realistically capture moments in the studio and in plein air.
It's an honor having Lewis to judge our Youth Division for the 3rd Annual Cultural Heritage Plein Air Event.

Temple Reece is an Associate Member of Oil Painters of America, American Women Artists, National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society and Preserving A Picturesque America, among others. She works in oils and other mediums in plein air and in the studio with a focus on the beautiful Appalachian Mountains. She is an avid supporter of the arts and loves promoting other artists, especially children.
